Altin Gun: On (Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP
Altin Gün is psyche-garage rock band that integrates influence from generations of Turkish folk songs with garage riffs and funk licks.Ā On is the debut album fromĀ Altin Gün,Ā continuing a rich tradition of opening doors between previously unconnected sonic worlds, following the footsteps of 70ās Turkish musicians such as Baris ManƧo, Selda BaÄcan andĀ Erkin Koray. These musicians took the traditional music and instrumentation of their culture, both formal and festive, and combined it with the heady rock sounds of the 70ās, leading to a sound both rich in history and imminently danceable. But their biggest influence is NeÅet ErtaÅ, A Turkish folk musician of equivalent stature to Dylan, Jacques Brel, or George Gerschwin in his home country. His composition have effectively become standards in Turkey, reintroduced to endless generations over time. Ā Altin Gün retain the themes and lyrics but reinterpret the compositions to a freakier, fuzzier place - shuffling time signatures and adding instrumentation while maintaining what made the songs beloved to begin with. The music is universal and effecting, even if you donāt speak a word of Turkish. āKirsehirin Gulleriā is raw Saz (a 3-string lute) riffs and reverberating vocals over throbbing bass, āKirsehrin Gulleriā is low-slung bass, chipper percussion and jangly riffs. Pressed on limited edition turquoise and blue swirl vinyl.Ā
