Ariel Pink: Odditties Sodomies Vol. 2 Vinyl LP

Ariel Pink: Odditties Sodomies Vol. 2 Vinyl LP

Oddities Sodomies Vol 2. is the long-awaited sequel to the super-out-of-print Vol. 1, originally released in 2008. This new edition is compiled from rarities spanning almost 20 years, including someĀ unheard tunes written during his series of releases with Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. The set starts with the relatively hi-fi surf jangle and hazy organ of ā€œSomething About Michael Landonā€, the chill surf vibes becoming more and more menacing as the track races to its conclusion. ā€œBolivian Soliderā€ is telegraph-tap percussion and jittery keyboard taps that lead to a warped Beach Boys chorus. ā€œChart Beepā€ and ā€œThe Lawā€ were cowritten by Lab favorite John Maus, Maus’s monotone baritone and lo-fi electronic wizardry standing in contrast to Pink’s raw, analog inclinations. (Another version of ā€œThe Lawā€ popped up on Maus’ 2012 Rarities compilation.) ā€œParty Zone Worldā€ is one of the more jubilant and loose tracks here, featuring a writing credit from good ol’ Mac Demarco. You will also get a chance to hear Pink’s best Morrissey impression via his honest take on Hatful of Hollow Smiths classic ā€œThis Night Has Opened My Eyesā€. Includes an obi-strip and printed inner sleeve with full credits.
