Arcane is fast becoming our favorite New York label, partly for their complete aversion to being boxed in to any one particular style or sound, but also their ability to sniff out relatively obscure yet talented producers. After debuting on the label with the woozy house vibes of Faking Love, Berlin-based Ray Kandinski boomerangs back with a 5-track offering of smoothed analog deepness courtesy of his Barry Helafonte alias. Fans of now-classic Arcane sides by Jamma Dee and Benedek will want to check out “Marina Funk” (it’s exactly what you’d think it sounds like), “In The Mood” and “Out In The Night.” “Sparkling Mango” ramps up the tempo a peg but retains the playful Casiotone melodies and blissful pads that permeate the entire release. Xtra thicc 180g vinyl pressing housed in murdered-out outer sleeve with soft poly inner sleeve, recommended.
