Sweet as honey dew.Ā The enigmatic music lovers at Ximeno have blessed us with a repress of this excellent slice of disco reggae heat. Derrick Harriottās sweet sweet loversā rendition of The Dazz Bandās āLet It Whipā is slowed down to a rocksteady groove but retains the originalās funky analog synth bassline and crunchy electronic snare fills. The flip, though, is where it gets hot: Christine Lewinās cover of Mtumeās āJuicy Fruitā (erroneously credited to Susan Cadogan on the center label) is arranged so perfectly, itās hard to believe this wasnāt a reggae tune to begin with: deep deep bass licks and seriously funky synth stabs punching through Lewinās angelic voice. Two floor fillers for the price of one (good luck finding the OGs). Ximeno, keep them coming! Recommended.
