It’s been almost a decade (9 years to be exact) since Egyptian Lover dropped a new album (2006’s Platinum Pyramids), so you can bet we were stoked when he announced 1984. The album is a return to form for the electro pioneer, entitled “1984” for the fact that it was the year his classic debut On The Nile was released, and that he “recorded the old way with the old equipment.” That means plenty of authentic 808 beats laced with freaky synth work and nasty vocoders. Basically this whole thing is a wet dream for all you old school electro fans out there! Highlights include “Into The Future,” “Seduced,” “She’s So Freaky,” “Poppers Anthem,” and “Got To Get It.” Comes in gatefold sleeve with awesome photos in the gatefold of E-Lover in the studio flexing all that analog gear.
