Emapea: Seeds, Roots & Fruits Vinyl 2LP
Emapea's debut has been steady bubbling in the underground since it's release in 2016. On Seeds, Roots & Fruits, the young PolishĀ producerĀ sets the bar impressively highĀ with a variety of instrumental beatsĀ that guaranteeĀ consistent and steady head nodsĀ throughoutĀ its runtime. TBH it almost feels likeĀ some lost beat/downtempo gem from the late 90's (classic Mo'Wax / Ninja Tune aesthetic definitely in effect), so I have to keep reminding me this is actually contemporary material (and really good material at that). Over 16 tracksĀ Emapea proves he is proficient in aĀ gamut of beat styles - from straight up sample-based hip-hop beats (innaĀ Beat Konducta vein), to psychedelic trip hop, and even some Portishead-likeĀ vibes (you'll know the one when you hear it). This 2019 reissue comes on double 12" for the first time, and includes the bonus track "What The Funk." Recommended.
