Loleatta Holloway: Stand Up (Pangaea's Mix) Vinyl 12"
Itâs the inside that counts. How often does a bootleg white label get blessed by a label like the mighty Salsoul for an official release? Hessle Audio mainstay Pangaea quietly released this stunning edit of Loleatta Hollowayâs âStand Upâ (itself a 1994 house recycling of her 1976 disco anthem âDreaminâ) alongside a remix of Nomadâs âDevotionâ a few months back and it sold out instantly. Pangaea keeps it incredibly simple, twisting up Hollowayâs monologue from âDreaminââs bridge and wrings it out over a bed of mangled jungle breaks and distorted 808s with little in the way of melody or even a bassline to distract from Hollowayâs shamanic vocals. Fans of Pangaea's superb In Drum Play LP should be all over this. Limited edition single-sided 12â, recommended.
