"I make music for people who like my music." It’s been six whole years since Matthew Dear’s last album, but the artist formerly known as Jabberjaw and False hasn’t been slacking: he released a full-length album under his Audion guise, curated a mix and compilation for DJ-Kicks and had two kids. “I made loads of weirdo music. If it weren't digital, there'd be boxes of tapes and tapes and tapes. I’m a tinkerer. I'm a loop obsessed sound hack. The process is what I get out of bed for.” On his 6th studio album, Dear is the titular Bunny drawing you once again into his rabbithole of mutant folk and pastoral techno. Woozy vocals overdubbed a hundred times over chugging wooden midtempo beats are the name of the game, but Dear flexes his club impulses more acutely on “Modafinil Blues” and “Electricity,” with slightly more restrained vocal performances making for the album’s most dancefloor-primed candidates. Tegan and Sara assist on “”Bad Ones” and “Horses,” also check out “Echo,” “Calling,” “Moving Man” and “Before I Go.” Limited edition rainbow splatter colored double vinyl pressing housed in embossed sleeve with printed inners.
