Family Tree's sole recording from 1972 finally reissued!Ā Led by guitarist/songwriter Michael Boothman (yes, the same Michael Boothman behind those cult disco 12"s), Family Tree was one of the firstĀ Afro-TrinbagonianĀ bands to infuse traditional Trinidadian folk, calypso, and Shango rhythms, as well as steel pan, into standard Western instrumentation. The result is heavy and grooving, as witnessed on their version of the Cuban standard "Tabu," and the original composition "So Dey Say."
