A reissue of this spaced out holy grail dub session might be the silver lining in this terrible Star Wars reboot we’re currently being dragged through with no end in sight (don’t @ me). The cover alone should be a good enough excuse for any dub nerd OR Star Wars nerd, but if not, there's heavy bass and drum Roots Radics rollage and vocals by Linval Thompson, Barrington Levy, Freddie McGregor and more mixed up by King Tubby’s most notorious proteges inna galaxy far far away. When Scientist and Jammy's are at the controls, I want them so zooted that they forget the difference between Star Wars, Star Trek and Star Jones, and that’s exactly what we get on this session versioned by two of the greatest to ever do it with track titles referencing the aforementioned franchises plus Buck Rogers and Mission Impossible, because why not. You’ll recognize the riddim from Freddie McGregor’s “Big Ship” on opening track “Storming The Death Star” (see what they did there); other highlights include “The Alien Aborts” (Freddie’s “Roots Man Skanking”), “The Princess Takes Her Revenge” (Wayne Wade’s “Round The World) and “C-3PO + R2D2 = The Force” (Barrington Levy’s “Rob And Gone”). Style Scott drums just don’t get any deadlier than they are on “Buck Rogers In The Black Hole” (Linval Thompson’s “You’re Young”). First-ever U.S. pressing, limited to 700 copies on lightsaber green colored wax. Recommended.
