Tame Impala: The Slow Rush (180g) Vinyl 2LP
If youāve been following the story so far, it makes sense that The Slow Rush is the logical progression from 2015ās Currents, especially considering that Tame Impalaās sole proprieter has been palling around with Mark Ronson in the interim. I donāt care that Kevin Parker has completely discarded any shred of fuzz rock cred to his name, or if this is music made for West Village bottomless brunch, or that this sort of endless nostalgia feedback loop is responsible for the standstill of progressive modern music⦠I want to feel good, all the time, baby. Iāve been reading a lot of Mark Fischer so Iām very close to not being able to enjoy this at all. But like any other Tame Impala record, and unlike 99% of the lo-fi ~analogue~ pastiche pervading the current culture, thereās something gliding beneath the surface of The Slow Rush thatās missing from other records: genuine hits. Dress them up any way you likeĀ but theyāre still hits. Our faves: āBreathe Deeper,ā āGlimmerā (extended edits incoming in 3ā¦2ā¦), āLost In Yesterday,ā āIt Might Be Timeā (is Quincy getting a check for this?) and āInstant Destiny.ā Only gripe is I wish āPatienceā made the album but I guess Iāll have to settle for a $50 custom 7-inch lathe like every other psychopath.Ā 180g black vinylĀ housed in matte gatefold jacket with full color printed inner sleeves and printed insert. Recommended.
