Debut studio album from Sydney grunge brats The Vines. The band were lumped in with the sweeping garage revival (The Strokes, The Hives; also known as the “The” bands) but in actuality, Highly Evolved falls somewhere between Nirvana and britpop. The album initially received a limited vinyl pressing in the UK but has been out of print for the better part of 15 years; this pressing marks the first time the album has been made available on vinyl in the United States. Produced by Bong Load Records co-founder and Elliott Smith producer Rob Schnapf; includes “Get Free,” “Outtatheway,” “Mary Jane” and more.
