When Nathan Williams broke out with 2009’s Wavvves, followed by a series of public meltdowns and indie rock beefs, who knew the project would still be going strong after nearly 10 years? You’re Welcome is the 6th studio full-length from Wavves, operating as a 4-piece consisting of Williams and Jay Reatard’s old backing band since Reatard’s untimely passing in 2010. We last heard from Williams on last year’s collaborative effort with Cloud Nothings, but V was his last proper full-length with Wavves. You’re Welcome solidifies Williams’ commitment to lo-fi, blown out aesthetics. If you’re looking for another “Green Eyes,” keep it moving. You’re Welcome contains more of the fast, major-key scorchers that comprised V, only this time the choruses are bigger and the guitars are even louder. Many of the tracks are built around samples of 50’s doo-wop, Latin psych, Cambodian pop and various international folk records. This limited blue colored vinyl version released on Williams’ own Ghost Ramp imprint comes with printed insert and free digital download.
